Posted by Holly Williford on 28th Feb 2015

There are lots of things that we can do without during a travel. After all we are lucky enough to have the experience, so who needs to strive for all the luxuries. We are on vacation, it doesn’t need to be a perfect experience, right? Besides over-planning can ruin the experience!

However, being away from home out of your regular routine does take a toll on the body. The physical strain of travel can lead to discomfort, injury, sickness and more. When we are in physical discomfort it is hard to truly enjoy and engage in an experience, so it is best to take some precaution to avoid anything that may mess up the experience. Here are five small steps that we can take to make travel just a little less strenuous on the body.

1.Maintain Exercise Routines

When we go on vacation it can be easy to make excuses to skip the exercise routine. This is a mistake. During travel new germs and scenarios that require our bodies to be at peak condition. Exercise boosts the immune system and agility, so that we can easily combat any germs or physically challenging situations we may encounter.

2.Shoulder Strap
Whether you are hauling a carry-on through the airport or carrying a camera bag around to all the sites, carrying any sort of bag can leave you with a sore shoulder. Help give your shoulders a break by investing in a high quality padded shoulder straps from Copper River Bags. These shoulder straps are padded with thick sheep wool which allows you to carry bags with ease.

3.Sit With Good Posture
Travel can involve a heck a lot of sitting between airplanes, car time, relaxing, etc. When you do sit in something that isn’t a lounge chair make sure that you have an ergonomically sound posture. This is especially important on planes where the elevation change already takes a drastic negative impact on the body. Keep both feel grounded, sit up tall and avoid slouching.

4.Be Careful With Unusual Physical Activities
Travel is a time for adventure! We do not think that you should avoid the physical aspect even if it does impose some risk, but we do think you should be mindful when doing these activities. Make sure if you are going to do something physically challenging that you are well rested, hydrated and sober. As a bonus, this will help you to better enjoy the experience.

5.Take It Easy On The Adult Beverages
Some people view vacations as an extended binge. That is okay by us! Just know in the back of your mind that being constantly drunk or hungover is pretty rough on the body. If you know you’re going to be throwing down drinking during your travels, just make sure you’re well-rested beforehand.
